Functions of the Department:

The department offers tertiary care in Obstetrics and Gynaecology as well as teaching, research and community services. These services are offered in the following areas:

1. Antenatal, delivery and post natal care to pregnant women;

2. Specialised gynaecologic inpatient and outpatient services;

3. Surgical care for gynaecologic and obstetric conditions;

4. 24-hours obstetrics and gynaecologic emergency care;

5. Family planning services;

6. Colposcopy, Pap Smear services and intra uterine insemination;

7. Ultrasonography;

8. Training medical students and Resident doctors in the speciality of Obstetrics and Gynaecology

9. Conduct of research;

10. Community Services in the form of training of health workers from the state and local government as well as the provision of community health education.
